Things often don’t go quite as planned.

My body learned that this week. For instance, on Tuesday I was sick with a fever all day, plus Ryan had to take my car to work, so I was left to bum around the house — read, watch Netflix, watch the chicks roam around the yard. It was actually a pretty nice day. And thankfully, the fever only lasted the one day, and I woke up Wednesday feeling much better.

Well, Wednesday — my recovery day — was quite hard on my body as well. I cut my left right finger open while slicing up an avocado at lunch. It was a pretty nasty cut, and if you are interested in that sort of thing, you can click here to see a picture (it’s important to document these things). It’s funny how your body responds to things. I didn’t consciously think that is was particularly gross, but I nearly fainted and did throw up a little. Probably T.M.I., I know. It was just very exciting.

My finger is doing much better now, thank you. It’s nice to have a husband that is a nurse. I’ve still not been able to wear my wedding rings. When Ryan and I are out together, people must think he is cheating on his wife — since he has a ring and his date does not.

(I just read over this post and for some reason I think it sounds like it should have a British accent. Is that just me?)

One more thing before I go. I’ve gotten into the habit of sharing my GoodReads book reviews with you, and I might as well not stop now. I even made a separate Books page where you can see all the books I’ve reviewed. I do like to be organized. Anywho, I just finished rereading Catching Fire — the second book in the Hunger Games trilogy — and here is my little review about it.

Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2)Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Just reread this after seeing the first movie. I wasn’t sure how much I would enjoy it the second time around, but it was still a page-turner. Very fun read. Katniss annoys me sometimes, which is why I gave it four stars, but it’s probably pretty annoying inside of my head too.

That’s all! I know, not a very exciting review. But so much as been said already about the triology, I didn’t feel like being very verbose.

And that was probably the first time I have used the word verbose! Ever.

Okay, one more thing, just because it makes me smile.

  1. Whoa. That was quite a cut. I hope it’s healing okay.

And you had a fever?? Oh no.
I was sick – but no fever – just yuck stuff.

‘Lookin’ forward to seeing you soon.

    Take care.

  2. I didn’t think it read/sounded like you had a british accent. It was just you. I like the word verbose. And I’m glad you didn’t cut your finger off. That would have been more exciting.

  3. Oh, I have been complaining about Katniss since I started reading the trilogy. I’m really having a hard time with her in the third book. Sheesh! Also, I LOVE that picture. Collin and I have had conversations about how long we think we could survive in the Hunger Games. Answer: not long. So funny!

Glad you are feeling better! We totally meant to check up on you and then, honestly, we forgot. Sometimes ideas/thoughts leave my brain as fast as they enter. So … even though there was no physical evidence of it, just know we were thinking of you.
